Derek’s Say: John Lloyd’s Son is a Good Boy
Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna have been married for two years and have also been stepdad to Elias, the actress’s son with John Lloyd Cruz, for two years.

Derek is so proud because he truly loved and considered Elias his son.

In an interview with the entertainment press at the press conference of his movie ‘Kampon’, he talked about Elias’s ability to play the piano, which he supposedly inherited from Ellen.

“He got it from Ellen, Ellen’s father, a piano wizard. He picks it up, he doesn’t even look down, he just reads the notes,” Derek proudly said.

According to Derek, “The only problem with Elias is he’s shy, so we’re all focused on whether he’s going to play or not.”

Apart from playing the piano, Elias is also into skiing

“Elias is taking a liking to skiing so we’ll take him skiing again. He picked up really quickly when we took him to the South Pole last year and then we took him to Niseko. This year, so he really wants to go skiing, so we’ll go skiing in Norway with Adarna family.”

Ellen, Derek, and Elias have been abroad for a few weeks so I asked him how Ellen and John Lloyd communicate when Elias is away for a long time.

Derek said, “To have a successful parenting, you need to have good communication so there is great communication.

“When we’re not together, there’s a schedule for Elias. But it also helps a lot now that he has school because he has to be disciplined and he can’t just miss school. So he won’t come with us to Antarctica because of school, but we’ll be together in Norway,” he said.

He and Ellen went on their honeymoon in Antarctica after they went to Norway.

Speaking of discipline, does he discipline Elias?

“I was brought up that way. Ellen wants me to do that. But again, discipline is by communication, is not by spanking the child. It’s about communicating to the child what’s wrong and what’s right and explaining to them why you’re giving them punishment by not playing them with their iPad, punishing them by not getting to watch YouTube or go to the park,” he said.

But he said he doesn’t have a hard time disciplining Elias because he’s a good boy.

“It’s all about communication but again with me, I’m very, very lucky because Elias is a very good boy so it isn’t much disciplining to do. Once you explain something to him he picks it up really, really quick.”

Meanwhile, Derek is happy that his comeback movie ‘Kampon’ has been included in the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

He is joined in the film by Beauty Gonzalez, Zeinab Harake, Nico Antonio, and child star Erin Rose Espiritu.

‘Kampon’ is directed by King Palisoc, produced by Quantum Films, and will be shown in theaters starting December 25.
