Manila, Philippines — Amidst intense grief and shock, the family of a little girl who died in a tragic accident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) parking lot is crying out for justice. An innocent farewell turned into a tragedy when the four-year-old was run over by an SUV that allegedly lost control.
In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN, the family’s grief was evident as they held the victim’s toys, which were left at the scene of the incident. The child’s mother, who is currently hospitalized due to the accident, has yet to be told what happened to her daughter — according to the father, “I don’t know how to tell her… maybe she won’t be able to bear it.”
An Ordinary Delivery Day Turned into a Nightmare
On the day of the incident, the entire family accompanied the father, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), to the airport. In an instant, the girl’s farewell to her father—which was supposed to be just a simple hug—became the last time they saw each other.
“We were hugging, then suddenly… he was gone. My child was gone,” the father wept in an interview.
SUV ‘Lost Brakes’? Family Demands Full Investigation
According to initial reports, the SUV may have lost control, but for the family, that explanation is not enough. “That was our child’s life. It wasn’t just ‘good or bad luck’. Someone needs to be held accountable,” insisted a relative.
Several netizens have also started posting condolences and anger on social media, using the hashtag #HustisyaParaKayAngel, while others are calling for an overhaul of security at public facilities like NAIA.
Child’s Whole Body Still in Morgue — Father Remains on Sidelines
As of now, the child’s body is still in the morgue. According to the father, he does not leave his side. “I don’t want to leave him. I’m afraid he will wake up and I won’t be by his side,” the father whispered, barely able to speak due to his grief.
“Even though he was a small creature, he left a huge hole in our hearts.”
This tragedy is not only a personal pain for the family, but a call for a higher level of accountability. Many believe that there should have been clearer answers and action, especially if there was negligence that caused the child’s death.
