Negros Occidental in Shock After Brutal Massacre — Suspect Allegedly Set Victims on Fire After Killings in Horrific Attack
A horrifying crime has rocked the peaceful farmlands of Negros Occidental, after authorities confirmed that multiple victims were not only murdered but deliberately set on fire by the suspect in a massacre now being called one of the most gruesome in recent memory.
The incident occurred late Tuesday night in a remote barangay within the province, where residents reported hearing screams, gunshots, and flames shortly after midnight. By the time police arrived, the bodies of several victims had already been charred beyond recognition.
Initial reports suggest at least 4–6 individuals were killed, but authorities have not released an official count as recovery efforts are ongoing.
Sinunog ang mga Biktima?!
In a press briefing, local PNP officials confirmed that the bodies were not only stabbed and/or shot, but also intentionally doused with gasoline and burned — either to conceal the crime or as part of a twisted personal vendetta.
“We are looking at multiple angles, but this is clearly not just a random act. The brutality involved suggests rage, premeditation, or possibly revenge,” said one investigator.
Residents told reporters that a fight had reportedly broken out earlier that day, possibly over land disputes, unpaid debts, or long-running personal grudges.
Suspect Identified — But Still At Large
Police have now released a sketch and partial identity of the suspect, said to be a male, 30s to 40s, local to the area but believed to have fled into the mountains after the killings.
“We know who he is. We are now coordinating with local barangays and tribal leaders. We will get him,” said a police colonel.
Checkpoints have been established in surrounding towns, and K9 units and drones are being deployed to locate the suspect in the thick sugarcane terrain.
Community in Fear: “Parang impyerno kagabi…”
Locals described the scene as something out of a nightmare.
“Narinig namin yung iyakan, tapos ‘yung mga aso, parang nababaliw. Bigla na lang may apoy. Akala namin sunog lang. Hindi pala — tao na pala yung sinusunog,” said one resident, crying.
Another witness said:
“Hindi ito normal. Para siyang hayop na galit. May mga anak pa ‘yung pinatay.”
Authorities: “Justice Will Be Served”
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Lacson released a strong statement condemning the massacre:
“This act is beyond evil. We will not stop until the person behind this atrocity is behind bars. Justice must be swift and unrelenting.”
The Department of Justice and NBI are reportedly being brought in to assist in the forensic analysis of the crime scene and to support local police in the manhunt.
Netizens React: #NegrosMassacre Trends Nationwide
Social media has exploded with public outrage and horror over the brutal killings. The hashtag #NegrosMassacre, along with #JusticeForTheVictims, began trending within hours.
“This is beyond terrifying. Who does that to fellow Filipinos?”
“We demand immediate justice. This is no longer just local — this is national news.”
“Sinunog ang katawan?! Sobrang hayop. Tulungan niyo mga pamilya!”
What’s Next?
Authorities are now focusing on:
Capturing the suspect alive
Conducting full autopsies on all victims
Establishing possible motives and accomplices
Providing trauma assistance to surviving family members and neighbors
A Province in Mourning
Schools in the barangay have been suspended. Residents are holding nightly vigils. And the community — once a quiet farming village — is now ground zero for one of the darkest crimes in recent memory.
The people of Negros Occidental demand answers. They demand justice.
And they will not rest until the killer is caught and punished to the full extent of the law.
