My 70-year-old father-in-law insisted on marrying a young tutor who was teaching him, my wife and I invited the whole village to the wedding

My father-in-law is 70 years old this year, his hair is almost gray, his back is a little cuffed, but he is still dressed sleekly, and his perfume is fragrant like a young man in his twenties. At the age when people often reunite with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he made them all “fall on their backs” when they insisted on getting married… The 25-year-old young tutor is teaching her grandson. At first, the whole family strongly objected, but he insisted that “love is love, there is no age here” and then threatened to sell the land and divide the property if anyone stopped him.

In the end, my husband and I held a royal wedding, inviting the whole village, everyone ate and chatted. The bride was as beautiful as a flower, with gorgeous lipstick, holding a bouquet of flowers in her hands but her eyes were still glancing at the phone constantly, and my father-in-law was smiling with his eyes closed, and his mouth said, “Today is the happiest day of my life!”.

On the wedding night, we deliberately stayed in the living room, so that the newlyweds had their own space. At about 10 o’clock at night, the whole family was silent, my husband and I were drowsily sleeping when we suddenly heard the sound of “huh… huh…” very strange, lasted about 3 minutes and then silenced. Thinking he was tired, I even thought about mixing ginger juice. Who would have thought, less than 10 seconds later, my father-in-law’s inaudible scream rang out shrillly:
— “OMGS!! MY CHILD!! COME OUT AND SEE!!”

My husband and I got up and rushed into the room. As soon as I opened the door, the bright light shone directly on the scene that made me stunned: on the bed, the blankets and pillows were scattered, the bride’s clothes were scattered on the ground… And right next to it, a naked, panicked young man half-crawled under the bed, and the bride had a pale face, her hands still clenched… wedding money envelope!

My father-in-law sat on the floor, panting, pointing trembling at the other man and stammering:
— “He… it is… but… his ex… It’s scheduled from this afternoon… told me to go to bed early… Oh my God…”

The whole family stood silently, outside the window the barking of dogs echoed in harmony with the whispers of neighbors: “Why doesn’t the bride kiss the groom…”

Before I could recover, the neighbors started to arrive, their flashlights flashing back and forth like in an investigative movie. My husband ran out to lock the gate, while I stood there awkwardly looking at my father-in-law whose face was red with both anger and shame.

The young man was dragged out from under the bed, only wearing a blanket. The bride — or now the father-in-law’s “newlywed wife” — stood huddled in the corner of the room, her eyes darting around as if searching for an escape route.

My husband said sternly:
“Tell me the truth! What are you two planning to do on your husband’s wedding night?”

She stammered for a few seconds and then burst into tears:
“I… he and I loved each other before. I just… I only got married because I heard you had money, to help your boyfriend pay off his debt… I didn’t expect things to turn out like this.”

My father-in-law felt as if someone had slapped him in the face. He sat silently, his hand trembling on his chest. I was worried that he was having a seizure, so I quickly called a nearby doctor to check on him. Luckily, it was just high blood pressure due to shock.

When the police arrived, the story quickly became clear: this “ex-lover” had been involved in a small scam and was in debt. The two had discussed having the girl “marry a rich man”, take the wedding money and some valuables in the house and run away. Unexpectedly, before they could carry it out, they were caught red-handed.

After a night of work, the police confirmed that all the wedding money and belongings had been recovered and returned to the family. The young bride and her boyfriend were detained for further investigation.

The next morning, the news spread throughout the neighborhood. Relatives blamed and sympathized. My father-in-law, though embarrassed, sighed and said:
“Consider it a life lesson… Not everything that is young and beautiful is worth trading.”

From that day on, he lived a more private life, spending time playing with his grandchildren and growing vegetables behind the house. As for me and my husband…were relieved that at least the storm had passed, leaving behind a story that the whole village would probably talk about… for a long time .
