Rachel Gupta Reveals Mistreatment During Her Miss Grand International 2024 Reign

Former Miss Grand International 2024, Rachel Gupta, speaks about “mistreatment, vote-buying, and a lack of support for titleholders.”

The crowned Miss Grand International 2024 is Rachel Gupta of India. However, after seven months being the reigning queen, she stepped down. As per her words, she resigned, but according to the MGI organization, Gupta was terminated effective immediately after she failed to “fulfill her assigned duties, engagement in external projects without prior approval from the organization, and her refusal to participate in the scheduled trip to Guatemala.”

Following her termination, she released a video that lasted for almost an hour, and in the same video, she talked about the mistreatment she received from the organization during her reign.

She was emotional when she detailed her experience, which, for her, was filled with “constant harassment, mental torture, and systemic mistreatment.” She also claimed something about vote-buying, where countries are allowed to pay for votes, and that these payments were willingly accepted by the MGI organization.

“When I joined the competition, I had absolutely no idea that countries were paying for votes and then the Miss Grand International Organization happily accepted them in the form of votes or in the form of you know donations,” she said.

She expressed that it is the organization’s fault for allowing it and finds it unfair for the girls and countries that can’t afford it.

In her revelations, she also added that she was put under poor living conditions in Thailand. She was made to accordingly stay in a small hotel room with no food and basic amenities provided. She also experienced body shaming and verbal abuse from the representatives of the organization.

“They were hounding me and constantly just talking about my weight and my body all the time. I remember one time, they sent their representative to me and he just comes up to me and he starts pinching me in different places and he’s like, ‘Oh you need to lose weight,’” she lamented.

She only received a month’s worth of a stipend, and the other expenses had to be shouldered by her family.

“I realized I would be the next girl like if anything ever happens to me on one of these trips God forbid anything, you know I cannot rely on them for anything because frankly they don’t care if I live or die as long as I’m there to smile at their events,” she stressed.

Gupta also revealed the repeated threats to her about dethronement to control her.
