The day his father returned from the hospital, he quietly put on the table a debt note: ₱2,160,000, the borrower was himself. My three brothers stood and looked at each other, all of them gave up. The eldest brother is busy worrying about his children going to college, the second brother has just opened a store that does not have revolving capital. As for me – the youngest – I just got married, the house is still paying in installments.

But when I looked at my father’s gray hair and cuffed back, I couldn’t stand it. I took the debt paper, signed it to accept the payment, and then arranged to welcome him to live with him for convenient care.

A year passed, life was not easy. I work day and night to pay off debts, sometimes the rice only has a plate of boiled morning glory.
