I gave my son the whole house but my daughter-in-law sold it and brought the money back to treat her father’s illness. I secretly went straight to my in-laws’ house to talk and asked my daughter-in-law’s father exactly one question.

The year my husband and I sold our land and divided the house, everyone thought I favored my son so I left him the house with the frontage. Actually, I wasn’t biased, I just thought that my son was the breadwinner, and my daughter was already married, so it was more convenient for the eldest son to live in the house.

But what I didn’t expect…
was that  my daughter-in-law sold the house just 4 months after having her name on it!

“I SOLD IT MOM, MY DAD IS ABOUT TO DIE…”

I know the story because the neighbor ran over in panic:

– Grandma, why did the truck leave your son’s house? That house had a “SOLD” sign on it since yesterday!

I thought they were joking, but when I called my son, he stuttered for a long time before daring to say:

– Mom… I don’t know. I was on a business trip for two weeks… my wife did the paperwork to sell the house without permission, and now she’s telling the truth…

That same evening, my daughter-in-law brought her nephew over, empty-handed, and said calmly:

– I know you will be angry, but my father is in critical condition and needs money urgently. My family cannot borrow from anyone else. I have no choice but to sell…

I asked:

– So where do you plan to let your wife, you and your children live?

We rent a temporary house, then we will rebuild it and buy another one.

– What about me? That house was built with my sweat and tears by his father. I put it in your name because I trust you. Not to sell it to get money to treat the kids’ grandfather!

It said nothing, just bowed its head. But  its eyes remained fixed.

I QUIETLY WENT STRAIGHT TO MY IN-LAWS’ HOUSE

Early the next morning,  I didn’t call anyone, didn’t inform anyone, just quietly took a motorbike taxi to my in-laws’ house.

My father-in-law was lying on the hammock, his face looked sickly, but  he was still conscious enough to recognize me.

I didn’t beat around the bush, just sat down, poured some water and asked exactly  one question:

– Grandpa, do you remember when we got married, you said: “Even though we are poor, my family never takes a single penny from anyone without being clear”?

The old man was speechless. I looked straight:

– Now you are using the money from selling my house to pay for medical treatment, which was not given to you by me, nor was it earned by your children. So is it clear or shady to take the money?

His hands began to shake.
I stood up and finished:

– I don’t stop my son from fulfilling his filial duty to you. But that house is the blood and sweat of my wife and I. Don’t think it’s easy for anyone to swallow.

AND THE CALL AT NOON WHEN I JUST GET HOME

Before I could take off my shoes, I received a phone call from my daughter-in-law:

– Mom… dad asked me to come back immediately. I will transfer back all the money from selling the house.

– Good. I don’t need your apology. I need you to understand: no one can take what I have that easily.

The following week, I went to re-register the house. The house was officially back in my name.
I called my son and gave him a photocopy:

– The house is still yours. But remember: if you and your husband make any big decisions in the future, you must ask me first. Don’t make me ask someone else instead of you.
