Manila was shaken! On September 28 , a student of Starlight Academy – Quezon City had a narrow escape after getting on the wrong motorbike driven by a fake driver .

According to information from the school, after the exam, the parents booked a ride-hailing car to pick up their child. However, while waiting, a man on a motorbike, wearing a jacket similar to a ride-hailing driver, approached the child and asked him to get in the car .

⚠️ Because of the rush, the student did not check the license plate number and driver information that the parent had sent earlier. When he discovered that he had gotten on the wrong bus , he asked to stop, but the driver still sped away .

In a dangerous situation, in a panic, he jumped off the moving motorbike to escape, injured and had to get many stitches. Luckily, after treatment at the hospital, his health and spirit are now stable.

The very next day, September 29 , the school sent out an urgent notice to all parents and students, considering the incident a wake-up call about the problem of impersonating technology drivers in the Philippines.

📌 Urgent advice from Starlight Academy:

Students must carefully check vehicle information (license plate, driver’s name, vehicle type) before getting on the bus.

Always keep in touch with your parents and report any unusual signs immediately.

Parents need to provide full information about the means of transport and limit letting their children travel alone in dark, deserted or stormy conditions.

The school also affirmed that it will coordinate with parents and organize training in emergency response skills to protect students.

👉This incident shocked the Manila parent community and is a clear warning about increasingly sophisticated fraud and scams in ride-hailing services.
