Elizabeth Oropesa Reveals Why She Didn’t Go To Nora Aunor’s Wake
Elizabeth Oropesa said she’s close to Nora Aunor
Veteran actress Elizabeth Oropesa revealed the reason why she did not go to Superstar Nora Aunor’s wake.
Nora’s death shook the entertainment industry. Being the Superstar, she is respected and admired by her fellow artists. The National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts recognition added a glimmer to her already shining star.
Her wake was also star-studded. Prominent personalities in the entertainment industry, as well as politics, showed their respect for her.
However, Elizabeth Oropesa, who said that she was close to Nora Aunor, was not present at the wake. In an interview with Manila Bulletin, the veteran actress revealed that she does not attend wakes in general.
“Hindi ako nagpupunta sa wake. Wala naman siya roon eh. Yung mga taong katulad niya, direcho na yun (sa langit),” Elizabeth said.
She added that wakes are for other people who are connected to the one who passed away and that it is the time for other friends to meet.
When asked if she’s worried about getting negative energy when attending wakes, Elizabeth said, “Hindi naman. If you know me, you will know what I am talking about. But I rarely go to wakes. Matagal na panahon na. Marami akong experiences dyan.”
Elizabeth added that she knew Nora was not there and when she found out about this, she prayed for the Superstar.

The veteran actress also shared that even though she and Nora did not have the chance to work together on a project, they were really close. She said that they had personal moments together that she could not even share with the public.
Elizabeth Oropesa said that this is just like the closeness she had with Diamond Star Maricel Soriano. The veteran actress shared that many did not know that she and Maricel were close because they hadn’t had a project together.
