The buzz started when Kate and her boyfriend, former ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ housemate and Japanese artist Fumiya Sankai, posted a sweet TikTok video with their pet dog.
In the clip, the two were seen vibing to Fumiya’s new song “Love Rock”, with Kate wearing a floral spaghetti strap dress and Fumiya in a light blue shirt.
One netizen commented, “Buntis siya halata,” implying that the actress looked pregnant.
Kate swiftly and humorously shut down the speculation, replying, “Last year pa yan ah! Kaloka kayo. Edi bulok na yung bata sa tiyan ko, mga buang kayo [laughing emoji].”
When another comment questioned why she wasn’t showing off her body, Kate coolly responded, “Kailangan ba? Di ako na-inform.”
Fans praised the actress for her quick wit and how she handled the baseless rumors with grace and humor.
Kate and Fumiya, who sparked dating rumors in August 2024 after celebrating Kate’s birthday together at Hong Kong Disneyland, have been more open with their relationship in recent months. They welcomed 2025 with a trip to Taiwan and later enjoyed a kimono-themed photoshoot and strawberry picking adventure in Japan.
In an earlier interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, Kate described their relationship as low-key and heartfelt, sharing, “The feelings are mutual and we are just both happy that we exist in this world.” She also referred to Fumiya as a “blessing” and a “beautiful soul.”
Despite their semi-long-distance setup—Fumiya still lives in Japan and visits the Philippines monthly—the couple continues to delight fans with their playful chemistry and sweet interactions on social media.

In a recent video posted on their shared TikTok account, the Shining Inheritance star and Sankai were seen enjoying a playful jam session to Sankai’s song “Love Rock,” along with their pet dog. Valdez wore a spaghetti strap dress while Sankai kept it casual in a light blue shirt.
The light-hearted video, however, sparked speculation in the comments, with one user suggesting Valdez was visibly pregnant. Quick to shut down the rumor, Valdez replied, “Last year pa yan ah! Kaloka kayo. Edi bulok na ‘yung bata sa tiyan ko, mga buang kayo,” jokingly pointing out that the video was taken a year ago.
Valdez and Sankai, who have been dating for nearly a year, have shared glimpses of their relationship journey, even revealing that it was Sankai who first fell in love. The couple recently celebrated the New Year in Taiwan before traveling to Japan, managing a semi-long-distance relationship with Sankai residing primarily in Japan.
