Jodi Sta. Maria Says No to Acting Hiatus

JODI STA. MARIA – Actress Jodi Sta. Maria clarified that despite not having a current TV series, she has no plans to take a break from acting.

Veteran actress Jodi Sta. Maria has set the record straight: she is not taking a break from acting, despite currently not starring in a TV series. The Untold actress emphasized that although she is busy with various projects, including a new film, stepping away from her passion is not on her agenda.

During her guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Monday, April 28, Jodi reflected on her long and steady career in showbiz. She shared that since being launched in the ’90s, she has consistently worked on various projects without significant pauses.

“Derederetso ‘yan, from the time na ni-launch ako back in the ’90s, hanggang sa last year, derederetso ‘yung trabaho, Tito Boy. So ang naisip ko is, may mga bagay akong gustong gawin din sa life ko,” Jodi explained.

While the actress acknowledged she has interests outside of acting, she made it clear that her passion for her craft remains strong. According to Jodi, Asia’s Best Actress, she still has several upcoming films—some scheduled for release later this year and others by 2026.

However, when it comes to television series, Jodi admitted she is being more selective. “But for seryes, sabi ko nga, I’m just waiting for a project that is so compelling na gagawin ko talaga siya. But for now, hangga’t hindi, magfo-focus muna ako sa aking pag-aaral,” she said.

Jodi’s commitment to education is nothing new. In 2018, she successfully earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree while balancing her career and her responsibilities as a mother to her son, Thirdy. Continuing her academic journey, Jodi achieved another milestone in January 2025 by passing her Level A Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) training.
